Contact HyreHVAC

Email, call or write to HyreHVAC about anything we published or an inquiry you sent. A person reads every message. We cannot fix your system: HyreHVAC does no HVAC work and dispatches nobody. If your heating or cooling has failed, call a local HVAC company.

Is this urgent? Start here instead

HyreHVAC is not an emergency service and cannot dispatch a technician.

If you can smell gas, smell burning, or a carbon monoxide alarm has sounded, leave the building first and call your gas utility or 911 from outside. Do not wait on a form, and do not go back in to switch anything off.

For a failure in dangerous heat or cold, call a local HVAC company directly. Our emergency triage tool helps you judge what can wait until morning and what cannot.

What should I include when I write?

A message with these in it gets a useful answer first time rather than a request for more detail.

  • The page you are asking about, if it is about something we published.
  • Your state, because licensing, incentives and climate drivers all differ by state.
  • The equipment, if you know it — model and serial from the outdoor unit.
  • What you have already been told or quoted, if anything.
  • Whether you would rather be answered by email or by phone.

We do not publish a guaranteed response time, because we would rather publish none than publish one we cannot meet in the middle of a heat wave.

What can HyreHVAC help with?

  • Questions about something we published. If a guide is unclear, or you want to know where a figure came from, ask. Every research page also lists its sources and the date they were retrieved.
  • Corrections. If something is wrong, telling us is the most useful message we receive. See the editorial policy.
  • Getting your inquiry deleted. Ask and it will be. The privacy policy is the controlling document.
  • Starting a project. The HVAC options form collects what is needed to help, and how it works explains exactly what happens next — including the part that is not finished yet.

I run an HVAC company. Where do I go?

If you run an HVAC business and want to hear from homeowners using this site, the supply side is described at working with HyreHVAC. It states plainly which commercial terms are settled and which are not.

Questions people ask

Can HyreHVAC come and fix my system?
No. HyreHVAC does no HVAC work, employs no technicians and dispatches nobody. If your system has failed, call a local HVAC company. If you smell gas or burning, or a carbon monoxide alarm sounds, leave the building and call your gas utility or 911 from outside first.
I found a mistake on a page. Who do I tell?
Use the contact details on this page and say which page and what is wrong. Corrections are welcome: our own refrigerant pages carry a published correction of a figure we previously had wrong. The editorial policy sets out how corrections are handled.
I am an HVAC company. Is this the right page?
There is a separate route for companies. See working with HyreHVAC, which explains what we are building on the supply side and what is not settled yet.
Can you tell me what my repair should cost?
No, and we will not guess. We hold no dataset of real repair invoices, so any range we published would be invented. Our repair cost estimator works the other way round: enter the quote you were given, and it sets it against the age and remaining life of your equipment.
